Graded-Index (GI)
Graded-Index (GI) is a type of Fiber design in which the Refractive Index of the Core is lower towards the outside of the Fiber Core and increases toward the center of the core. A GI bends the rays inward and allows them to travel faster in the lower region of the Refractive Index. Multimode graded-index fiber is typically used for transmitting Data over distances of a few kilometers.
