Timbercon Optical Test and Measurement Module Specified in Military Diagnostic Equipment
PORTLAND, OR – February 5, 2004 – Timbercon, Inc., is please to announce it has been selected by Lockheed Martin as the primary supplier of the FiberSTAR optical test system, a key module for use in military diagnostic testing.
Lockheed Martin has specified a custom built Timbercon Optical Test and Measurement Module (OTMM) solution for use in the LM-STAR avionics test equipment set. This module will interface with other fiber optic and fibre channel modules, as part of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) ground support program.
Timbercon’s Optical Test and Measurement Modules (OTMM) are available in both standard and custom configurations. Ideal as a stand alone unit or used as a component of larger test sets, the (OTMM) can incorporate electronic variable optical attenuators (EVOAs), manual variable optical attenuators, integrated optical tap(s), and multiple control interfaces with various multi-channel configurations.
Lockheed Martin approached Timbercon seeking an easier and more efficient solution to their current test configuration. Timbercon designers developed a solution using fully automated components and integrated controllers, which gave Lockheed a significant increase in capability and functionality while remaining within their budget. “The FiberSTAR unit represents some of the most efficient, cost effective, and advanced solutions for analysis and process control in the industry,” states Eric Meslow, President of Timbercon, Inc. “It is this type of solution that enables companies like Lockheed Martin to save resources, time, and money by efficiently automating time and precision intensive test processes.”
To fully support this contract, Timbercon has selected DiCon Fiberoptics Inc. as its key strategic technology partner for the FiberSTAR project. “DiCon has been providing innovative, high quality components to the optical industry for over 17 years. Their track record, broad product line, and customer service made the qualification and final selection process smooth and remarkably quick.” said Meslow. Robert Schleicher, DiCon Fiberoptics’ Vice President of Business Development, added, “DiCon is very pleased to have been selected by Timbercon as their primary technology partner, in support of the FiberSTAR project. The combination of Timbercon’s strong integration capabilities and our component technology created a winning solution for Lockheed Martin.”
