Timbercon Awarded Employer Workforce Training Fund (EWFT) Grant
Timbercon, Inc., the fiber optic product and solution manufacturing company providing a vast array of connectivity solutions, today announced that the company has been awarded a grant from WorkSource Oregon. The Employer Workforce Training Fund (EWFT) grant was awarded to Timbercon so that the company can upgrade the skills of workers in order to stay competitive in the global market.
The EWFT grant will allow Timbercon to invest in additional training and equipment that will assist with increasing worker skill sets. This additional training will help Timbercon as they actively pursue ISO9001:2000 and AS9100 Quality Systems certification. This will allow Timbercon to seek markets previously unavailable without the certification. All of these efforts combined will result in an enhanced level of global competitiveness that benefits not only Timbercon, but other Oregon small businesses as well.
“In order to stay competitive in the industry, it is important that Timbercon attains ISO9001:2000 and AS9100 quality system certification,” said Jim Alexander, director of engineering for Timbercon. “The EWFT grant will support Timbercon as we move forward in training our work force in order to maintain that competitive edge and not only retain jobs, but create jobs in Clackamas County.”
WorkSource Oregon is a network of public and private companies that work collectively to make certain that Oregon businesses have a ready supply of trained workers with talents in line with the needs of the business and industry.
