Timbercon Announces RoHS Compliance Initiative
LAKE OSWEGO, OR – December 27, 2004 – Timbercon, Inc., an industry leader in the supply and manufacturing of custom fiber optic products and solutions, announced today a corporate initiative focused on achieving RoHS compliance for all Timbercon products prior to July 1, 2006.
This plan addresses the establishment and implementation of Timbercon policies and procedures to ensure Timbercon and Timbercon vendor compliance with the requirements of RoHS directives 2002/95/EC and 2002/96/EC by deadline mandated by the European Union.
RoHS directives are designed to reduce the level of certain compounds found in some electrical and electronic products. These compounds include: lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE). By July 1, 2006, any product marketed in the Eurpoean marketplace must contain less than the predetermined level of these substances.
